The sacred hill shrine of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala draws tens of thousands of pilgrims every single day, making it one of the most visited temples in the world. With such enormous footfall, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) operates several different darshan categories so that every devotee — whether you walk up the hill, book online in advance, or simply arrive and join the free queue — has a path to the Lord's feet.
Table of Contents
This guide explains every darshan type available at Tirumala in 2026, how to book each one, where to report, the dress code, and the rules you must follow for a smooth and peaceful visit.
One golden rule before anything else: Book only on the official TTD portal — ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in — or the official TTD app. Avoid agents, touts, and third-party "booking" websites entirely. Genuine darshan and seva tickets are never sold by middlemen.

Sarva Darshan (Free Darshan / SSD)
Sarva Darshan, often abbreviated as SSD (Sarva Seva Darshan / Slotted Sarva Darshan), is the free darshan open to all devotees without any ticket. It is the traditional, most democratic way to have darshan — no booking, no fee, just devotion and patience.
How it works: Pilgrims enter through the Vaikuntham Queue Complex (VQC), where you wait in compartments until your turn. On normal weekdays the wait can be around 10 hours, while on weekends, festivals, and holidays it can stretch to 18–24 hours or more.
Time-Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD tokens): To make the wait more predictable, TTD issues free time-slot tokens offline in Tirupati. These are first-come-first-served and let you report at a scheduled slot instead of waiting randomly in the complex.
Where to get SSD tokens: Tokens are commonly issued at counters such as Srinivasam, Vishnu Nivasam, and Bhudevi Complex in Tirupati. Carry a valid photo ID for each adult.
Best for: Devotees with flexible time, those who don't want to pay, and pilgrims who value the traditional darshan experience. If tokens run out for the day, you can still join the straight free queue at the VQC.
Special Entry Darshan (₹300 Darshan)
The Special Entry Darshan (SED), popularly called the ₹300 Darshan, is the most preferred paid option among pilgrims. For ₹300 per person you get a guaranteed time slot and a much faster, better-organised queue with seating and superior facilities.
Cost: ₹300 per devotee (the same rate applies to NRI darshan).
Waiting time: Typically 2–4 hours, compared to 8–24 hours for free Sarva Darshan — ideal for families with children, elderly devotees, and anyone on a tight schedule.
Booking — online only: This ticket cannot be bought at any counter in Tirupati. You must book it through the official TTD portal:
- Visit ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in or open the TTD app.
- Log in, or register using your mobile number and Aadhaar details.
- Go to Special Entry Darshan under Online Services.
- Select your preferred date and time slot.
- Enter each devotee's details (matching their ID proof) and upload a photo if prompted.
- Pay ₹300 per person via debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI.
- Download and save the e-ticket.
Important: ₹300 tickets are non-transferable and non-cancellable. The printed date and time slot are fixed — if you miss your slot, the ticket is forfeited. Each ticket holder must carry the e-ticket along with the original photo ID used at booking.
Quota release: TTD generally opens quotas 2–3 months in advance, with booking windows opening at 10:00 AM sharp on the release date. Popular dates — weekends, festivals, school holidays, and Brahmotsavam — sell out within minutes. Log in a few minutes early and keep your Aadhaar handy.
2026 note: Because of Adhika Masa (an extra lunar month), Tirumala celebrates two Brahmotsavams in 2026 — Salakatla in September (around Sep 15–23, with Garuda Seva near Sep 19) and Navaratri Brahmotsavam in October. Expect fierce demand and very early sell-outs around these dates.
Divya Darshan (Footpath Darshan)- right now Closed this (no Special darshan )
Divya Darshan, officially Divya Darshanam, is a special privilege for devotees who reach Tirumala on foot via one of the two sacred footpaths. "Divya" means divine, and this centuries-old tradition is honoured with a dedicated, faster queue as a reward for the climb.
The two footpath routes:
- Alipiri Mettu — the longer, classic route (~3,550 steps). Tokens are issued at the Bhudevi Complex near Alipiri Bus Station. Path opens around 4 AM; climb takes roughly 3–5 hours. Around 10,000 tokens are issued daily.
- Srivari Mettu — the shorter route (~2,400 steps). Tokens are issued at the 1,240th step. Tokens start around 6 AM; climb takes roughly 2–3 hours. Around 5,000 tokens are issued daily.
How to get the token:
- Tokens are free and issued only at the footpath — there is no online booking.
- Carry your original Aadhaar card or other government photo ID.
- Your photo and fingerprints are scanned (biometric), so tokens are not transferable to other family members.
- Tokens are checked at multiple points; carry it until you collect your laddu after darshan.
Free perks for footpath pilgrims: TTD runs free buses from the railway and bus stations to the footpath starting points, offers free luggage transfer (deposit at the base, collect near the temple), and provides drinking water, toilets, lighting, and covered roofing along the path.
Waiting time after the climb: Around 2–4 hours on normal days; longer during festivals, when token issuance may be paused. Start your climb early, as daily tokens are limited.
Best for: Physically able devotees who want a spiritually rewarding climb and a shorter, free darshan queue at the top.
Arjitha Seva Darshan
Arjitha Sevas are paid devotional services that include participation in temple rituals along with darshan. Popular sevas include Suprabhatam, Thomala, Archana, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva. Costs range from around ₹120 up to ₹1,000 or more depending on the seva.
How to book: Many of the early-morning and high-demand sevas use an electronic dip (e-Dip) — a random lottery rather than first-come-first-served. You register your interest during the announced window, the system runs a draw, and selected devotees pay within a fixed payment window to confirm. Other sevas are released through the standard online quota. All booking happens on the official TTD portal.
Best for: Devotees who wish to participate in temple rituals and receive darshan as part of the seva.
Senior Citizens & Physically Challenged Darshan
TTD operates a special quota for senior citizens, physically challenged (Divyang) devotees, and defence personnel to spare them the long general queue.
How it works: A limited quota is released online each month, and there is also provision for reporting at designated counters in Tirumala. The queue is dedicated and significantly shorter.
What to carry: Valid age proof for senior citizens, disability certificate for physically challenged devotees, and service ID for defence personnel, along with standard photo ID.
Best for: Elderly pilgrims, devotees with disabilities, and serving/retired defence personnel.
Supadham Darshan
Supadham Darshan is a dedicated-queue facility for specific categories of devotees, including parents travelling with infants (typically below 1 year), certain donors, and volunteers. It allows these groups a smoother entry without the long general wait.
What to carry: Age proof for the infant, and relevant donor/volunteer documentation as applicable.
Best for: Young families with babies, eligible TTD donors, and Srivari Sevaks/volunteers.
Angapradakshinam
Angapradakshinam is a sacred vow in which devotees roll in full prostration around the Vimana Pradakshina inside the temple, after a holy dip in the Swami Pushkarini, immediately following the Suprabhata Seva.
Key details:
- The seva begins very early, around 3:00 AM, after Suprabhatam. Plan to be at Tirumala well before 2:00 AM.
- It is generally not held on Fridays (subject to festival exceptions).
- For Tirupati/Tirumala residents, a weekly e-Dip (lottery) is the primary route; tokens are linked to Aadhaar with the local address. Selected pilgrims pay a refundable deposit to confirm.
- TTD has noted that the booking model (dip vs. online/current) is under review — always check the latest portal notice.
Dress code for the vow (stricter than usual): Men wear a dhoti/veshti with an upper cloth (no shirts inside during the vow); women wear a saree or salwar-kameez/churidar with a dupatta.
Best for: Devotees fulfilling a traditional vow of deep surrender.
SRIVANI Trust VIP Break Darshan
The SRIVANI Trust (Sri Venkateswara Alaya Nirmana) darshan is linked to a donation of ₹10,500 per person and offers a fast, same-day "break darshan." A limited number of break-darshan tickets are released online daily for eligible donors.
How it works: Eligible donors who have made the SRIVANI donation can access a limited daily quota of break-darshan tickets online (commonly in a morning window for same-day afternoon darshan). It is also available at certain counters such as the Tirupati Airport.
Best for: Devotees who want a quick, guaranteed same-day darshan and wish to contribute to temple construction activities through the trust.
Entry Points & Reporting
- Special Entry Darshan (₹300): Report at the designated SED entry near the Vaikuntham Queue Complex at the time printed on your e-ticket. Arrive 1–2 hours before your slot.
- Free Sarva Darshan: Enter through the Vaikuntham Queue Complex (VQC); SSD token holders report at the slot on their token.
- Divya Darshan: After completing the footpath climb, proceed to the VQC and join the dedicated Divya Darshan queue, showing your footpath token.
- Sevas / Angapradakshinam / Special categories: Report at the specific gate and time mentioned on your confirmation.
Always reach your reporting point comfortably early — slots are time-bound, and latecomers may be refused entry.
Dress Code
To preserve the sanctity of the temple, TTD enforces a traditional dress code for all devotees:

Recommended attire
- Men: Dhoti, kurta-pyjama, or pants with a shirt; for sevas, traditional dhoti with upper cloth.
- Women: Saree, half-saree, or chudidar/salwar-kameez (with dupatta).
Not permitted inside the temple
- Jeans, shorts, skirts, sleeveless tops, T-shirts, and tight western wear.
- Leather items (belts, wallets, bags) inside the inner premises.
Dressing traditionally helps you avoid being stopped by security at the entrance.
Documents You Must Carry
- Original photo ID (Aadhaar preferred) for every adult — must match the booking details.
- E-ticket / token (printed or on phone) for the relevant darshan.
- Age proof for infants and senior citizens where applicable.
- Disability / defence ID for special-category darshan.
Failing to carry valid ID can lead to denial of darshan even with a confirmed ticket.
General Guidelines for a Smooth Darshan
- Book only on the official portal: ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. Ignore agents and "VIP letter" claims — protocol/VIP darshan is not a purchasable public ticket.
- Plan around crowds: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday usually see lighter traffic. The heaviest crowds fall on weekends, school holidays, Saturdays, Garuda Seva, Brahmotsavam days, and Vaikuntha Ekadasi.
- Reach early: For every darshan type, arriving ahead of your slot avoids stress and missed entry.
- Travel light: Mobile phones, cameras, and large bags are restricted inside. Use the free luggage/cloakroom facilities.
- Collect your laddu: Most darshan types include a free Tirupati Laddu after darshan — keep your token until you collect it. Additional laddus can be bought at designated counters, subject to daily limits.
- Check live status: During festivals, waiting times change hourly. Follow official TTD announcements and the TTD app for updates.
- TTD helpline: For darshan queries, call 155257.
