The Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) system is Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' (TTD) free, time-slotted darshan facility for Lord Sri Venkateswara at Tirumala. Unlike the traditional free Sarva Darshan queue where pilgrims may wait 12–24 hours, an SSD token gives you a fixed reporting time slot, cutting your effective waiting time down to roughly 3–6 hours — and it is completely free of cost.

This guide covers the three official SSD token-issuing counters in Tirupati, their timings, and exactly how to reach each one from the bus stand and railway station.
What is an SSD Token?
SSD stands for Slotted Sarva Darshan — a token-based free darshan system. The token assigns you a specific time window to join the darshan queue at the Vaikuntam Queue Complex in Tirumala, so you avoid standing in the long general (token-less) Sarva Darshan line.
Key points to know:
- Free of cost — never pay anyone for an SSD token.
- Offline only — tokens cannot be booked online; you must collect them in person at a Tirupati counter.
- Aadhaar mandatory — every adult must present their original Aadhaar card. A live photo is taken at the counter.
- Non-transferable — each person must stand in the queue and collect their own token. You cannot take a token on behalf of a family member.
- Children below 12 years do not need a token — their entry is free with parents.
- One free laddu prasadam is given after darshan when you surrender your token.
- After availing a token, the next one can usually be taken only after 30 days.
SSD Token Counter Locations in Tirupati
There are three official TTD counters in Tirupati city (tokens are NOT issued at Tirumala — collect them in Tirupati before going uphill):
| Counter | Location |
|---|---|
| Srinivasam Complex | Opposite Tirupati Central Bus Stand |
| Vishnu Nivasam | Opposite Tirupati Railway Station |
| Bhudevi Complex | Beside Alipiri Bus Stand |
These locations are placed near the major transport hubs — bus stand, railway station, and the Alipiri footpath base — to make them easy to reach.
SSD Token Timings
Counter timings are not fixed and vary heavily depending on crowd volume. Based on recent patterns reported by pilgrims:
- Counters have opened anywhere from early morning (around 5:00 AM) to afternoon (12:30–1:00 PM) on different days, and sometimes even the previous evening (9:00 PM) during certain periods.
- Tokens are generally issued for the next day's darshan (and on some days, same-day).
- Daily quota is roughly 10,000–15,000 tokens across all counters, and is increased significantly during festivals like Brahmotsavam and Vaikunta Ekadasi.
- On weekends and holidays, tokens can run out within 2–4 hours of opening. Pilgrims often start queuing several hours before the counters open.
⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This article is for information purposes only. TTD may change SSD token issuing timings at any time depending on the crowd, festival schedules, and administrative decisions. The timings mentioned here are based on patterns and may not reflect the exact schedule on your travel date. For the latest and most accurate information, please call the TTD Call Centre at 155257 or visit the official website tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in 1–2 days before your visit.
How to Reach the Token Counters
From Tirupati Central Bus Stand → Srinivasam Complex
Distance: ~150–300 metres (about a 2–4 minute walk).
Srinivasam Complex is located directly opposite the Central (RTC) Bus Stand. As you exit the bus stand, the complex is right across the road. This is the most convenient counter for pilgrims arriving by bus, with auto stands and waiting halls nearby.
From Tirupati Railway Station → Vishnu Nivasam
Distance: ~100–200 metres (about a 2–3 minute walk).
Vishnu Nivasam is directly opposite Tirupati Railway Station — from the platform, steps lead almost straight to the complex. This is the most convenient counter for pilgrims arriving by train. TTD buses to Tirumala also start from near here.
From the Bus Stand / Railway Station → Bhudevi Complex (Alipiri)
Distance: ~5–6 km from both the Central Bus Stand and the Railway Station (about a 15–20 minute drive by auto/bus).
Bhudevi Complex is located beside Alipiri Bus Stand, at the base of the Tirumala ghat road and footpath. This counter is convenient for pilgrims planning to climb the Alipiri footpath to Tirumala. You can reach it by city bus or auto-rickshaw from the bus stand or railway station.
Step-by-Step: How to Get Your SSD Token
- Arrive in Tirupati a day before your intended darshan (tokens are usually for next-day darshan).
- Go to the nearest counter — Srinivasam (bus stand), Vishnu Nivasam (railway station), or Bhudevi (Alipiri).
- Reach early and join the queue well before counter opening time, especially on weekends/festivals.
- Carry original Aadhaar for every adult; have it ready in the queue.
- Collect your token — your photo is taken; each person collects their own.
- Note your time slot and reporting gate printed on the token.
- Report at Tirumala at least 30 minutes before your printed slot time. Late arrival can invalidate the token.
- Collect your free laddu after darshan by surrendering the token.
The map above shows all three counters. As you can see, Srinivasam Complex (near the bus stand) and Vishnu Nivasam (near the railway station) are very close together in central Tirupati, while Bhudevi Complex sits a few kilometres north near Alipiri at the base of the hills. Quick Tips for a Smooth Experience
- Pick the counter closest to your arrival point — Vishnu Nivasam if by train, Srinivasam if by bus, Bhudevi if you plan to climb Alipiri.
- Reach the counter as early as possible on weekends and festival days, as quotas exhaust fast.
- Keep original Aadhaar ready for every adult in your group.
- Carry water, snacks, and a shawl for the early-morning wait.
- Always confirm timings with the TTD Call Centre (155257) 1–2 days before your trip, since the schedule changes with crowd levels.
Note on timings: SSD counter timings shift frequently based on daily crowd flow and TTD's decisions — recent reports have shown openings ranging from early morning to afternoon, and even previous-evening issuance in some periods. Treat the times above as general guidance and verify with TTD before travelling.
